Last night I was given my first opportunity to shoot a gig in Vancouver, It was a big one. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Not only am I a huge fan of their music but I’ve seen them live before and they blew me away.

I arrived at the PNE forum in Vancouver not knowing what to expect. Unlike most other shows, we were not allowed into the building until 5 or 10 minutes before Macklemore actually came onto stage, which meant we were not allowed to photograph the support acts and gauge the light. This didn’t really matter as being a big show there is nearly always good, bright white light as its the individual that people want to see.

We were told that without an AAA pass we were not allowed in the middle the pit, but had to pick a side and stay behind some tape that had been handily stuck to the floor. I chose the right side of the stage as you look at it. 

I have only brought my 5D3 with me to Canada, so only had one lens and one body to shoot with, meaning a lot of the photographs look quite similar. Despite this, I think I made the most of the situation, here are my shots from the show.
