Connecting Flights

Very early morning on Thursday (4am) I touched down back in YVR after a week away in the USA. I was working with a company in the UK to shoot some customer testimonials all over the states. (Flying home turned into a bit of an adventure, ending up taking almost 20 hours to get home due to delayed flights, changing gates, mechanical issues, weather etc)

The first shoot was in Virginia Tech University, which was great to visit. The guys were doing amazing research in creating new materials for 3D printing, we were only there for a day and I had to carry out two interviews in a pretty busy environment.

The second place we flew to was Indianapolis, again just for a day. This was another interesting location, a huge research facility, where lots of super interesting (totally over my head) science is happening.

After this, we flew to Washington D.C, for a week to work at the SLAS conference. Whilst at the conference, I am tasked to shoot short interviews, workshops & presentations. These short interviews go together with a set of GV’s that I shoot once the interview is complete to get cut together to create bitesize video content for web use.

The trick with these interviews is that, the content is much more important that the aesthetic of the video, however, as a huge fan of beautiful video, I take a few extra minutes to make sure we have a nice looking interview that we can rely on.

In the mean time, I shot some images at the Stanley Theatre for the Vancouver Arts Club, this was a little tricky as it is a very dark venue in need of a bit of work so I concentrated more on details rather than wide angle shots.

I have some VERY exciting news to give you in the next few weeks, It can wait for now!
